The world of Pinball is such a fun place, from the retro machines from back in the 70’s to the incredible looking machines of today - we guarantee you will have hours of #seriousfun
1: Many pinball machines have hidden cows. (easter egg)
One of the most unusual pinball in-jokes is the presence of cows in games, especially games from the 90s and late 80s. Usually hidden by the game’s programmers for keen enthusiasts to find. Does your game have a cow?
2: The best selling pinball machine of all time is Bally Williams’ Addams Family (1992)
Coming off the back of the amazing 1992 film starring Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston, The Addams Family surpassed all past sales records, selling over 20,000 pinball machines over its production, more than any other in the world.
3: Pinball machines have been around since 1931, but didn’t have flippers until 1947
The first ever mechanical pinball machine was Gottlieb’s “Baffle Ball”, but up until Gottlieb’s “Humpty Dumpty” pinball machine in 1947, there were no flippers on any game at all. It was partially because of no flippers that pinball was banned for decades in the USA, leading lawmakers to believe that pinball was a gambling device that was about chance and not skill.
4: Some pinball machines give a special surprise if playing at midnight.
If you’re playing a pinball machine late into the night, you may be in for a surprise! Some games feature special modes called “Midnight Madness”, where a chaotic multiball round will start when midnight tolls!
5: The game with the most pinballs of any game is 13!
SEGA’s Apollo 13 pinball machine has a truly one-of-a-kind multiball mode, where a crazy 13 balls will be released onto the playfield at once! More than any other game in history!
