If you have an unused garage and are looking for inspiration for what to do with the space then you've come to the right place. Stuart Jacob has given his old garage a full face-lift, decorated it to impeccable standards, and filled it with everything you could possibly need for a quality night in, leading him to be a finalist in 2021's Games Room of the Year competition. Stuart followed last year's competition and was inspired by the different entries which gave him lots of great ideas to try out in his own home. Stuart finished his games room and wanted to enter our 2021 competition because he is interested in how others turn spaces into recreational areas.
As you first walk up to Stuart's converted garage your eyes are drawn to the back wall full of framed posters and memorabilia. In the centre is a fantastic pool table for endless hours of healthy competition with family and friends. When the rivalry gets you feeling thirsty, you can take a break in the fully-stocked home bar.
Stuart has a fantastic darts corner with halo lighting and darts display, setting him up with all his needs for an epic few rounds of darts with his mates, the only extra thing for Stuart to do is select his walk-on music and face his opponent.
Next to the darts is Stuart's custom made TV unit featuring a colossal flat-screen TV and integrated bookcase/movie store. The finished result is minimalist and sleek, fitting in perfectly with Stuart's entire games room. The other side of the TV unit is an epic Evo Arcade machine combining the wonderful memories of all the favourite arcade classics with the power and grit of next generation game play.
Stuart talked us through his favourite part of the games room: "the tv/bookcase that took a long time to make (3 by 2 timber and plasterboard!). It was designed to have the dartboard and games machine on each side. The fight posters are also fights I have been to so are a great reminder of the nights." It took Stuart around 7 months to complete his home project from start to finish, converting his double garage into the beautifully polished games room he enjoys now. We have to say the new use of a games room definitely trumps the old garage!
Now that Stuart's garage conversion is complete, we wondered if he has any other plans for the next year. He said: "Not sure about adding anything. Would love a pinball but the room isn’t quite big enough!" With some clever planning, we are sure you could fit a pinball in somewhere, that would be a great addition to the room.
We congratulate Stuart for making it through to the final stages and wish him luck for the voting stage.
