Inside a pinball machine’s backbox, you will find all the game’s main internal circuitry and backbox lighting. You can remove the backglass with the keys included with the game using the lock in the top of the backbox. Generally, you will never need to access the internals of the backbox under normal circumstances. However, this guide will walk you through how to gain access if you should need access. For example, if you wish to swap some bulbs in the backbox, or our engineers ask you to.
Step By Step
To remove the backglass, look for the backglass lock. On most pinball machines, this is in front of the backglass at the top in the centre, then unlock with the included key.
Once unlocked, the backglass can be removed by lifting it up using the lip at the bottom of the glass, then removing from the grooves. Ensure that you support the entire glass as you remove the glass and store safely to one side. This will give you access to the backbox lighting
Accessing the backbox circuitry
If you need further access to the backbox circuitry, then you will need to open the lighting panel to reveal the circuitry behind it.
Warning - All the circuitry in the backbox is critical to operation of the game, and mishandling any of the electronics inside could cause costly damages to your machine. If you have bought a machine from us, only access the circuitry if we explicitly advise ask you to to avoid voiding your warranty.
To open the lighting panel, unhook the latch on the right hand side of the lighting panel by lifting it upwards to unlock. The panel will now be able to swing open to reveal the backbox circuitry.
To close the backbox back up again, simply repeat the process in reverse, ensuring the latch on the lighting panel is secured shut and the backglass is safely seated back in its slot before locking (refer to our video).
