Gareth Potts: So this one is putting the ball down the rail. Now, it's
not always easy. It's probably the hardest shot to play. So I'm
going to just [roughly] show you where to hit the ball. Now, this
ball here is touching the cushion. So you need to find the gap
between the ball and the cushion.

So this is one of the routines that I practice that help sharpen
up my rail potting, that helps, you know, improve. As you can
see, there's two balls on every cushion, and then there's three
spare, just to help you if you were out of position.

But the objective for this routine is you have to pot every ball
down the cushion without knocking any other balls off the rail.
So for argument's sake, you couldn't pot this ball and let the
white run into this one, and push this over the middle. They all
have to be potted down the rail, which, you'll see, helps with
the positional side of the play and potting balls down the
 cushion.

So we're going to start this routine. We're going to pot this
one into here first, leaving the white roughly here. This one
into here, the white roughly . . . and be careful not to touch
any of those that are already on the cushion. This one into
here; white back to here; this one into here, white back on to
roughly where it is now and then start the same on this end of
the table. So let's give it a go.
