Super Mario Brothers is a unique video game themed pinball machine that centres around one of the most iconic gaming series of all time. Produced by Gottlieb in 1992, Super Mario Brothers is an all encompassing Nintendo themed machine about the famous Italian plumber on his quests to defeat the evil Bowser.
The Super Mario Brothers machine you see in this video is the actual machine currently listed for sale on our website, so let’s take a look at this game’s condition as well as its features.
Taking heavy inspiration from the SNES game ‘Super Mario World’, Super Mario Brothers tasks the player with destroying each of Bowser’s castles across 7 different Mario worlds, and finally rescuing princess peach from the evil king’s clutches.
Along the way, you’ll encounter all manner of other Mario characters including Luigi, Yoshi, koopas and even the ghostly boos. Plenty of modes exist to keep players on their toes as well, from extra ball rounds, hurry up modes and more.
You’ll also encounter numerous different Mario themed items and sounds during the game, from collecting the classic coins in the bumpers, travelling through warp pipes both on ramps and under the playfield, and Bowser’s castle at the top of the playfield spins and flashes during certain modes. There’s even a special drain save feature, where a drop target will pop up between the flippers to save balls draining down the middle.
The rules are dead easy to pick up and learn, and the game offers enough features to keep both Mario fans and pinball players coming back for more.
For such an early game, this machine has retained its colours remarkably well, with no fading to the vibrant artwork anywhere on the game’s cabinet. The playfield also looks and plays brilliantly, retaining the great cartoony look that the early Mario games were renown for. The game plays excellently too, with every feature working perfectly.
The game has also received a few upgrades. New models have been added to the playfield, artwork lines the interior wall, and even the metal rails and legs of the game have been given a resilient blue powder coat to better suit the theme of the game. Finally, the game has a full LED upgrade, that truly comes into its own when the lights go down. The game positively shines.
